Why Cook? Why Catering?

Catering is perhaps one of the most important aspects of event planning that will help make or break any business meeting, fundraising gala or wedding events. That’s why the catering manager often takes the lead to help clients plan and execute special events and other one-day programs at hotels and other venues. And many people who enjoy choosing food and beverage dream about becoming a caterer and opening their own catering business.

When it comes a time when you’re thinking about cooking for however many people, it becomes time-consuming, that’s why numbers matter. This is why cooking for a normal family size is great, but when it becomes over 4 or 6 people let’s bring out the catering help! Consider how many people you can fit in your space – if you’re planning an outdoor event, remember everyone might end up inside if it rains! If you want to have large numbers in a small area, suggesting people drop in between certain hours rather than all arriving at a designated time can ease the crowds.

Another important tip is time management; A time plan is a really useful tool to stay on top of your plans. Write a list of everything that needs to be ordered or arranged – flowers, helping hands, food, drinks, equipment, decorations. Assign days and check them off when they’re completed. The food, drink and home preparation will need a more detailed plan and it’s worth assigning times as well as days to these. Be realistic, it’s better to give yourself too much time. If reading through your time plan makes you feel unduly stressed, you may have taken on too much so look at ways you can simplify your choices. Providing a relaxed and fun event with a small selection of different but well-cooked dishes is better than an overambitious spread which turns out to be hit and miss.

Now it’s time to invite your friends and family – Most importantly, let’s have fun. Your event invitation will make an impression on your guests and – as the first item they’ll see regarding this event – can convince them to attend or persuade them to stay home. So don’t miss out on this important opportunity to get your friends and family excited, engaged and talking about your upcoming event. Make sure your event stands out and as always remember the things to consider when planning an event.

Know the Best Wood For Rustic Home Furniture

What type of furniture does rustic furnishings look like? Simple and provincial, and something that would show idealized country life.

Some people prefer to come home to have that rustic feel after a full day’s work. Hours of work and stress would surely wear out a person, so to come home and to be able to put your feet up, and enjoy the rest of the evening would certainly be something one would look forward to by the end of the day. A clean and relaxing home, furniture that gives you the ideal country feel is a definite plus.

Unfortunately, since there are different types of wood that furniture makers use to make wooden furniture, you may have to be more observant in asking for the type of wood used, should you wish to put your wooden furniture outside the house, in the patio, perhaps, or if you want it placed inside, in the living room.

Sample types of wood would include eastern white cedar, your usual ‘pine’ variety, the hickory, cypress, aromatic cedar, northern white cedar, and other tree types that could be used to make furniture.

Speaking about different types of wood, what is the difference, and why should this be considered when choosing wooden furniture? The Cypress sort almost does not have any grain; hickory has a small diameter; aromatic cedar changes in color when exposed to the elements of nature; eastern white cedar is knotty and hairy; while the northern white cedar lasts for twenty years, when untreated, and would turn to a silvery gray when exposed to the elements.

With your own website and newsletter, you can combine as many of the above methods as you want. You can publish only the content you create – articles, photos, and videos – or you can invite others to submit their work to your site, too.

You can make money through advertising, promoting your tour business, selling your photos, and by referrals to hotels and other travel businesses.

These five careers in travel can not only help you get complimentary stays in resorts all over the world, but they also allow you to actually get paid to travel.

To Be Better At Leading Change

70% of all change initiatives fail.

That’s a pretty startling statistic. Especially when you consider how important change is. I mean, we all acknowledge this, right? There aren’t many organizations out there saying, “You know what we need to do? We need to maintain the status quo, and we need to do it now!”

Every breakthrough involves change. Every innovation involves change. Every new product, policy, or service that moves you ahead of the competition involves change.

So change is vitally important-and yet 70% of change initiatives fail.

Why is that?

It’s because the people leading change don’t play the long game.

To put it another way, they declare victory too soon. Here’s why.

Change is difficult. There’s no getting around that. Change can be messy and uncertain-especially when you’re right in the middle of it. As Harvard professor and author of The Change Masters Rosabeth Moss Kanter puts it, “Everything can look like a failure in the middle.”

In fact, the middle part of change-the messy, uncertain part-can be so painful that we declare victory the instant we’re through it. It’s as if, as soon as we start to see light at the end of the tunnel, we wipe our brow, give each other a high five, and say, “Whew! That’s done!”

But it’s not done. Yes, you’ve made it through the messy part, but you haven’t anchored the change. It’s not yet a part of the culture. It hasn’t “stuck.”

You played the short game.

The truth is, change is a long game. The average successful corporate change initiative is a seven-year process-of which years three, four, and five are the messy part. But notice that there are still two years of anchoring left before the change sticks, before it becomes part of the culture.

It’s the part after the messy part that determines whether or not your change initiative will last.

So what, as a leader, do you do during this part?

You reinforce the change.

You actively look for any and every positive outcome that is a result of the change, and you become relentless about communicating these outcomes to the team. You have to be the one connecting the dots of success back to the change because, left to their own, your team members will not make the connection.

Only by reinforcing the change can you anchor the change, and only by anchoring the change can you make the change truly stick.

And once you do this, you’ll be in that exclusive club of leaders whose change initiatives succeed.

Stud Wall Design For a Quiet Living Space

Stud wall design plays an important role in noise transmission from room to room in your home. Staggered stud wall design can help soundproof any area of your home.

Construction begins with a wider than normal top and bottom beam, usually a 2 x 6 or a 2 x 8 instead of a 2 x 4. 2 X 4 studs are screwed in an alternating pattern along the base plate. The studs are spaced 16 inches on center across the beam and two 2×2’s are security each end to support the weight of drywall. This creates form of discontinuous construction. This prevents noise from being conducted from one sheet of drywall, through the studs, and into the next room.

Metal studs can also be used in place of timber to further reduce the conduction of sound vibrations. You may also consider increasing the amount of dead space within the walls to accommodate larger amounts of thick insulating material to help absorb sound. All seams in the drywall must also be properly sealed in order to block out unwanted noise.

Finishing the wall with denser materials such as brick, sheetrock, or plaster can also significantly reduce the noise level that is transmitted from room to room. Double layers of sheetrock can be used with an adhesive layer of glue or silicon caulking in between. By alternating seems out of wall covering, the soundproofing qualities of a room are greatly increased.

Special order thicker doors such as those used in commercial applications may also be needed to prevent sound from being transmitted. Common interior doors are lightweight and have a hollow center. Heavier commercial-grade doors block sound more efficiently. If you are installing double layers of drywall or sheetrock, you may also have to special order thicker doorjambs to accommodate the increased width.

Discontinuous stud wall design is ideal for walls separating the garage and the living space of your home, as well as typically noisy areas such as children’s playrooms and laundry rooms. Incorporating discontinuous stud wall design into areas such as your home office and bedroom can enrich your levels of rest and productivity by keeping out unwanted noise.

Discontinuous stud wall design used in conjunction with double layers of dry wall provides an adequate level of soundproofing for a fraction of the cost of using specially design soundproofing materials. The level of soundproofing achieved by changing the design of the stud walls and selecting denser building materials is usually adequate for the purposes of most homeowners.

Maximize the Potential of Your Business Presentation

Business presentations are a collateral reflection of who you are. A glimpse of your personality could be seen in the ways and the content of your presentation.

The way you carry yourself, the way you speak, deliver your sentences, tackle tricky questions with confidence and successfully convey your message, speak volumes about your personality.

Still, there are much more ways in which you can support your business presentation to reach its maximum potential.

HIGHLIGHT YOUR SUPERPOWER

A positive way to keep your audience attentive to you is to show them that you are worth their time and trust. Rather than speaking about your achievements and future goals, speak about your credibility because if even little points will exist with which the crowd will not feel connected to then the tables will instantly turn.

Talk about your goals within the first few minutes of the presentation

Choose your presentation design which corresponds with your goals, which should be introduced to your audience as early as possible. This will help your audience to correlate what you are expressing with the ‘why’ and ‘what’ you want to achieve.

Never underestimate the impact of a powerful image/quote

A business presentation is usually a collection of fertile ideas, knit together as one to illustrate a larger picture. So, the smart use of different images/quotes to introduce different ideas will supply more power to your presentation. Vocalizing the quotes or speaking few important words out loud will bring your presentation to life, especially if the presentation has numerous bar graphs, bullet points, and pie charts.

GIVE YOUR AUDIENCE THE POWER TO BRAINSTORM OVER YOUR QUESTIONS

One of the unbeatable ways to make your presentation more interactive is to begin it with a question which you, yourself will answer. Like you can start with “I asked myself what all can my team will be able to do and contribution for making this project a success?”. So, based on this question you can build up your presentation. Be alert to all the questions from your audience as they are icebergs of curiosity. The more you will suffice your audience, the stronger their trust will grow in you.

Be ready to tackle tough questions

Always be confident and logical at answering the questions from the audience. There will always be questions whose responses if given without solid facts and coherence, will put your image down in your crowd’s eyes. If you know your topic as well as you’re your audience, then always keep your business binary clean and do not ever shelve any question from the audience.

KEEP YOUR OWN QUESTIONS READY IF NOBODY ASKS YOU ANY

It could be a possibility that your audience is shy or somewhat hesitant to ask you questions about your presentations. Always remember, if you face this kind of a situation, then always compose a question to yourself because ‘zero curiosity’ turns into ‘zero interest’ overnight.

Take your crowd on a final journey

Always take your crowd on a final journey before you wrap up the presentation. Highlight all the important points and tell the crowd how they will be productive if given proper attention by the appropriate crowd.

Keeping the immense support in mind which we get from the PowerPoint presentations, one should also be able to support her/himself equally well during the closing moments of the presentation because humans invented the PowerPoint and not vice versa.

Rose Gardening Tips – Learn 3 Simple Rose Gardening Tips

Rose gardening is a dreamy hobby because rose is a type of flower that carries a lot of meanings according to its color. If you want to become a proud gardener, one of the ways that you can do that is by having a garden full of blooming roses. One off-topic tip for male gardeners, if you are good with rose gardening, you might get the attention of romantic females out there.

Rose gardening basics is easy and have been covered almost everywhere. What we will look into with this rose gardening tips article are some essential tips for those who are getting into it. Keep in mind that it is not hard to plant roses in your garden. The hard part is to get them blooming healthily during the spring and early summer. Let’s dive into the tips I have prepared for you.

Color of Roses to Plant

Color of roses are vibrant and may cause immediate visual effect once it blooms. With this in mind, you may want to properly plot the the color scheme of your garden so that roses with the color of your choice will fit in without becoming an eyesore. You may want to “highlight” the existence of your roses by planting those of bright colors such as red and yellow.

If you prefer a green and peaceful garden, you can always opt for roses with soft colors such as pink and white. The prices of roses with different colors will not have much difference. However, some colors may have a higher price due to the higher demand.

Indoor or Outdoor for Roses

Good question there. Roses prefer spots that are exposed to at least 4 hours of sunlight. They usually don’t grow very well when placed under a shady spot. Different places may have different temperatures and sunlight exposure which may or may not be suitable for rose gardening.

You may want to test the suitability of spots that you have prepared for your roses by testing them out in containers. This will reduce your effort of trying to remove them if roses are not suitable for your garden.

Rose Caring Tips

No rose gardening tips will be complete unless they have included rose caring tips because roses are fragile plants. Pests can cause problems to your rose gardens and you must watch out for caterpillars, bugs and parasites that love roses. An organic gardening ways to counter this is to add a predator of these pests into the food chain of your garden.

High Risk Loans – The Things You Should Know About High Risk Loans

Every day, more people are losing their jobs and finding themselves in tough financial times. If you have ever been among these unlucky people, you may have damaged your credit rating and feel like you may not be able to get a loan. While it may be tough to find them, loans exist that are designed for people in just this situation. While it is sad that so many are struggling, it means that there is more demand for high risk personal loans, especially unsecured personal loans, and these loans are more available to people who might not have qualified for loans in the past. Bearing this in mind, here are the 8 things you should know about high risk loans:

Payday Loans are Expensive

You probably already know that payday loans should really only be a last resort. Unless you are absolutely sure you can repay them in full, they will typically cost you far more than they are worth. When extended for a full year, a $100 payday loan can have almost an 800% APR. That is astronomical compared to the rates that banks and even credit cards charge.

Payday Loans are Easy To Get

You are a grown-up, and only you can decide if it makes sense to get a payday loan. If you decide to apply for a payday loan, you will usually need to bring your ID, proof of income, a bank statement, and the date of your next pay day at a minimum. Some places also require you to have a certain level of income before they will give you a pay day loan. The good news about pay day loans is that you can get them the same or next day in most cases and there is typically no credit check, so your credit doesn’t have to be good to qualify for one.

Payday Loans do not Improve Credit Scores

You would think that a loan paid off in a timely fashion would help you build your credit. This is not always the case. Since these loans are not usually reported to the major credit bureaus, they do not have a bearing on your credit score.

You Can Get a Loan Online

One of the best places to find a high risk personal loan is online, and you can get an online loan from the comfort of your home. If you have a poor credit rating, it can be embarrassing to apply for a loan in person only to be turned down. Going online for your application, ensures that you do not have to put yourself in this position. Online Loans usually have low limits on the amount of money you can borrow, which might prevent you from taking on more than you can handle financially.

Tax Return Loans are Available

Known as Return Anticipation Loans (RALs), these loans are extended based on the anticipated amount of your tax return. Basically, they are cash advances with interest rates ranging from about 50% to over 500% APR. Keep in mind that if you file your taxes early, you can generally have your return within 8-10 days if you file electronically and use direct deposit. This is almost always a better option than a Return Anticipation Loan, but it is good to know that they exist.

Your Car Can be Used as Collateral

Known as Car Title Loans, these are secured loans that use the title of your car as collateral. Often, the loan is for less than the car itself is worth, so it is essential that you are able to pay back the loan because the lender can take possession of your car if you are unable to pay in a timely manner. You are going to need your car, right? So, be very careful if you decide to go this route. The one positive is that secured loans such as this often have lower interest rates than payday loans.

There are High Risk Loan Stores

You can sometimes qualify for high risk personal loans of thousands of dollars or more if you go to one of the personal loan stores that are available in some states. With the credit crunch in the United States, there are fewer of these stores than there used to be, but a few still exist. High risk personal loan stores specialize in giving loans to people with bad credit. These are not pay day loans that you pay back in a couple of weeks. These are genuine, non-collateral, unsecured personal loans that you pay back over several years. Sometimes, you can get a lump sum loan, and other times you may qualify for a line of credit where you free up more money to spend as you pay off your loan(it’s like revolving credit). The interest rate is typically high, but you have longer to pay it off, and it looks good on your credit report to have a higher loan awarded to you. These will probably take some work to find, but may be one of your best options.

Lenders Take a Risk, Too

Because these types of loans are really high risk to lenders, the fees and interest rates are typically higher for online unsecured personal loan options than they are for traditional loans. As such, you will probably have to pay more just to acquire one. Keep in mind that these are high risk personal loans to individuals whose credit doesn’t warrant better terms, but better terms are often available to those with better credit scores or some sort of collateral.

Other Things to Keep in Mind About High Risk Personal Loans

One more thing that may make the process of searching for a high risk personal loan simpler is to search in your state first. The regulations for high risk loans are different in many locations and lenders may be more apt to loan to people located closer to them. Having said that, there are many financial products online and available anytime, and it will just take a little of your time and patience for you to find the right one.

Once you’ve decided which option is best, make sure that you do some research first and compare the interest rates of each lender. This will keep you from taking a loan that could cost you more money than you realized it would.

Hollywood Siren Fashion Style – Barbara Stanwyck, How to Dress in Vintage Style Dresses

Barbara Stanwyck is one of my all time favorite actresses. Her legendary upbringing, hard-boiled personality and the longevity of her career, makes her a true Hollywood legend. Born in 1906 and orphaned at early age, from her humble foster family upbringing, she somehow managed to steer her path to destiny. Following the footsteps of her sister as a show girl, she was a chorus girl and dancer in the Ziegfeld Follies and numerous other shows. “I just wanted to survive and eat and have a nice coat”, Stanwyck said.

After a brief stint on Broadway, she landed herself roles in Hollywood. Frank Capra’s choice of using Stanwyck in ‘Ladies of Leisure’ promised a steady stream of film roles, which helped in crafting her skill for strong characters in movies. She was often seen as the glamorous, courageous and perfect femme fatale. Often fighting to be equal with her male leads, her personality shone and offered a modern take on the female persona for movies at the time. I especially love her in ‘All about Eve’, as the crook who lures her man into confusion. Her strong spirit and infectious laugh certainly makes this movie unforgettable. I especially love her voice, husky and controlled, has a calm demeanour on the surface, and storm stored under.

Stanwyck had a figure like a model. Tall and athletic, she often wore gowns that showed off her endless legs, with cropped tops just cut above her rib cage. These looks are surprisingly on the radar at the moment. As we have seen, the designers are moving our waist lines upwards, so we can certainly imitate Stanwyck’s style with ease. Wear one of the cropped tee shirts we’ve featured, teamed with a high-waisted pencil skirt and you will find how flattering this look can be. Or a high waisted maxi skirt for a modern touch, teamed with platforms shoes, gives you an ease of casual glamour.

Often the smallest part of our torso is our waist, so this should be used to best show off our assets, which is evident in countless old movies. So go on, be a style icon and you will be discover your inner siren too!

She also often donned with long beaded gowns made of silk with bias cut details, we shouldn’t be shy of elegant evening dress. We would love to picture ourselves as a film siren wearing evening gowns. But then of course we can dress in figure hugging maxi dresses, to achieve a casual look.
